It's a full 600 points for Lorraine Spotten

August 12th. 2009

Lorraine Spotten has achieved the maximum 600 points in her Leaving Cert. Lorraine was one of only 143 students out of more than 57,500 who sat the exams to achieve maximum points. "I'm over the moon, I can't believe it," she said. Lorraine's excellent results guarantee her a place on the pharmacy course at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. She was gracious about her achievement and when asked how she managed to put in so much work and do so well, responded: "It's amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it."

April 22nd 2008

On Tuesday 22nd April, two pupils represented Cavan Royal School in a 'Battle of the Pans' Cookery Competition in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. Tamara Janowitz and Toluse Akinlabi, both second year Home Economics pupils at the school, were successfully chosen from an entry of over 800 pupils to represent Ulster in the Regional Senior Finals of the 'Tesco Young Chef of the Year' Competition, 2008. The girls took two out of the four finalist places in the competition. The dishes cooked at the competition reflected the menus as chosen by the pupils. Tamara chose a chickpea, chilli and coriander soup, followed by sweet chilli chicken served with a Moroccan cous cous.
